MISS LIONS SOUTHERN OREGON SCHOLARSHIP PAGEANT
The Lions Miss Southern Oregon Leadership Pageant is program designed to help young ladies from the age of 16-22 Years of age reach their scholastic ambitions. Each young lady will receive training to boost their confidence, and ability to articulate their views on the world, their platform issue, and their future plans.
Every contestant must have a platform issue, or community service. No matter what issue they choose, they will be expected to know the issue front and back. The Redwood Lions Club has helped hundreds of people in the Josephine County area, receive eye and hearing care in Josephine County.
The Lion's Club is a great community service project. We have helped with many projects
throughout the year. Ride the Rogue, Fire Works tent, Vision Screening in schools, Redwood Lions “Lights for Sights”, A.D.O.S. ( assisting deployed Oregon soldiers) Project, The Magical Merlin Parade and Craft Fair, Lift the Vets, Southern Oregon Drifters, just to name a few.
Our Title holders will participate in local parades, meet with other non-profit organizations, and help with the Vision Clinic and/or Bling Fling a fund raiser and sale of fine jewelry, at the Lions Club Sight and Hearing Center in Medford., and choose a Redwood Lions Club Event to volunteer your services.
*** We are offering one thousand (1,000.00) dollar scholarship to our winner. I say scholarship because, if you don't go to College, you do not receive any money. When you register with the college of your choice, the college will contact us and we will send them a check.
There will be a $50.00 entry fee. That money offsets the cost of printing the 10 page contract each young lady must sign, and have notarized. Each contestant must have a platform, (community service) be at all rehearsals. Must have a talent. Must sell ads for the program book, and sell tickets for the actual performance.
All of our members of the Lion Club, have been business owners, worked with the public, are involved with Toastmasters, and or have worked in the Miss America Organization. This Pageant is not affiliated with the Miss America Organization, but, with the training you will receive, you could compete in one of the Miss Oregon open pageants.
If you have any questions please contact Jan Slusser at 541-660-2364 President of the Redwood Lions Club, or Chuck LaTourette at 541 264-0437.
The date of our program is September 09, 2017 7:00 P.M. facility is Grants Pass Performing Arts Center.
